Since the HOMEfit-concept has shown good feasibility in a pilot study with 91 patients, the next objective is to perform research on the way the programme affects functional parameters and health-related quality of life.
To this end, 210 older patients (≥70 years) from about 15 practices are included in a randomized controlled trial. The study aims at tertiary prevention and for this reason, targets elderly people who are already chronically ill and mobility restricted. Patients who exercise and those without any mobility limitations are excluded from the study.
The implementation of the concept in primary care is a long-term goal.
