I am a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Chair of English Linguistics (Prof. Meierkord) at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), Germany. In addition, I am a German Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) at Ramstein Air Base.
I graduated from Justus Liebig University Giessen with an M.A. in Language Technology and Foreign Language Learning and Teaching in 2015. In 2021, I obtained my Ph.D. for a dissertation project on English prosody in L2 speech. I do research in L2 Prosody and Second Language Acquisition. My current research mainly focusses on dialect leveling in U.S. military speech as well as identity construction in these military communities. The purpose of my research is to understand how linguistic variation and dialect leveling processes are related to situational factors and speaker characteristics, including the sociobiographic background and register.
I previously held a position at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen from 2015-2022. Since June 2022 I am part of Prof. Meierkord’s team at the English Linguistics department at RUB.
