Press release: University Eye Clinic receives funding from Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation
The renowned Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation is funding a promising research project at the Eye Clinic under the direction of Professor Dr. Stephanie Joachim.
Professor Dr. Stephanie Joachim and her team are working with Professor Dr. Bernd Plietker from the Department of Organic Chemistry I at the TU Dresden to produce new HSP27 inhibitors for the treatment of glaucoma. The aim of the funding from the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation is to design these active ingredients for use on the eye and test them in so-called glaucoma models in the laboratory. This would be a first step towards a new therapy for an incurable eye disease, glaucoma.
