Program

Traditionally, the IECs focus on all aspects of research related to eclogite-facies metamorphism. Therefore contributions usually cover a very broad spectrum of subjects (planned sessions see Abstracts), and contributions on nano-, micro-, and macro-scale observations, on thermobarometry, geochemistry, geochronology, fluid and melt evolution, experimental petrology, geodynamic processes and numerical modelling etc. are welcome.

The IEC-2015 conference will take place at the Hotel Bahia Principe near the town of Rio San Juan, northern Dominican Republic, and will focus on a principal block of oral presentations and posters along with a syn-conference field trip. The full registration fee includes accommodation in a double room for 5 nights, all meals (including ice-breaker party and conference dinners), coffee-breaks, abstract volume, and travel costs of the syn-conference field trip. Registration for the conference will be a prerequisite for participation in the pre- and/or post-conference field trips. For the pre- and post-conference field trips the registration fee includes all travel costs from Hotel Bahia Principe, accommodation in double rooms for 2 nights for each trip, lunch, dinner, field guide. For logistical reasons, the number of participants during the pre- and post-conference field trips will have to be limited. Seats will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis (for detailed information see registration form). We will create a waiting list, in case vacancies should arise.

Important: Neither the organizers nor the field-trip leaders can be held responsible for any illness or injury during participation. Please make your own insurance arrangements.

Rio San Juan complex with HP-metamorphic rocks in serpentinite mélanges (glaucophane-lawsonite rocks, blueschists, orthogneisses, jadeitites, jadeite-lawsonite-quartz rocks, eclogites).

Minimum number of participants: 20; maximum number of participants: 55.

Note: Details of the itinerary on Day 2 of the field-trip will depend on road conditions after the winter rains. It is to be expected that strenuous hiking (c. 600 m total elevation difference) and fording of rivers will be necessary.

The accompanying person registration fee does not include participation in the syn-conference field trip.

Post-conference field trip (February 6 - 7; departure on February 8)

Samaná Peninsula (lawsonite rocks, garnet blueschist, eclogite, marble, pelitic schist, calcsilicate) and the UHP Cuaba Gneiss terrane near San Francisco de Macorís (eclogite, spinel-bearing garnet peridotite, corundum-/spinel-bearing garnet clinopyroxenite, hornblende gneiss etc.).

Minimum number of participants: 20; maximum number of participants: 80.
