It is well established that amphiphilic block copolymer systems adopt a wide range of morphologies in solution. (Zhang L., Eisenberg A., Science 268 (5218): 1728-1731 (1995)) Most commonly, spherical micelles, rod-like micelles and vesicles are formed. The self-assembly of these structures is influenced by environmental conditions like temperature, salinity and pH but also strongly depends on the concentration and molecular parameters of the constituting block copolymer system. Several examples of DBCs forming spherical micelles (Alemdaroglu FE, Ding K, Berger R, Herrmann A, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 45: 4206-4210 2006; Ding K, Alemdaroglu FE, Boersch M, Berger R, Herrmann A, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 46 (7): 1172-1175 2007) and vesicles were reported.(Teixeira F, Rigler P, Vebert-Nardin C, Chem. Commun. (11): 1130-1132 2007) Here we will apply the DNA-block-polypropylene oxide (DNA-b-PPO) system to assemble vesicular structures.
