Lumic HC1-LM cathodoluminescence microscope

Our lab uses a Lumic HC1-LM cathodoluminescence microscope.

Hot-cathode Cathodoluminescence optical microscopy and spectroscopy (CL-OM) is used for mineral identification or provenance analysis. Intrinsic CL can help to identify the crystal structure, bonds, and vacancies, Extrinsic CL can help to identify trace elements in the crystal lattice and lattice defects. The CL-OM is equipped with a spectrograph which allow the analysis of light spectra emitted from the samples.
