The venue of the conference was Copperhill Mountain Lodge about 4 km SW of Åre (http://copperhill.se/en/). Åre was the starting point for all participants, both those who attended the conference only and those who participated in the Pre-Conference field trip. Åre is located at the foot of Mt Åreskutan in the Scandinavian Caledonides, a classical place where in 1988 Elis Törnebohm identified a major thrust carrying high-grade metamorphic rocks over fossiliferous sediments.
