International Eclogite Field Symposium Lochalsh, Scotland, June 29th – July 6th 2007. Organizers were Simon Cuthbert (chair), Craig Storey, John Wheeler, Gaston Godard, Gisella Rebay, Michel Ballevre, Hannes Brueckner, Jane Allan. The Symposium celebrated and commemorated the life and work of Tony Carswell, who made a profound and significant contribution to research on eclogite-facies rocks and who died in 2006.
Field trips:
(1) Syn-Symposium Excursion: The Glenelg-Attadale Inlier, northwest Highlands of Scotland (Craig Storey)
(2) Pre-Symposium Excursion: The Ballantrae Ophiolite Complex (Simon Cuthbert)
(3) Post-Symposium Excursion: Variscan high-pressure metamorphism in Brittany and Vendée, France (Gaston Godard, Gisella Rebay, Michel Ballevre; July 9th – 12th 2007)
A special volume "Ultrahigh pressure metamorphism: From Earth's interior to mountain buildings In memory of D.A. (Tony) Carswell, Joint meeting of the International Eclogitic Conference and Task Force IV of the International Lithosphere Program" was edited by L. Dobrzhinetskaya and H.K. Brueckner and published in Lithos (Volume 109, Issues 3–4, 2009) .
