Abstract
A discussion of ideas concerning what I call ›inanimation‹ or the forms of automatic life. Certain of those ideas have been developed ›Automatisches Leben, Also Leben‹ (ZfM 4/ 2011), and ›The Blushing Machine: Animal Shame and Technological Life‹ (Parrhesia 8/ 2010). An important background text is Derrida's L'animal que donc je suis (Paris 2006; dt. Das Tier, das ich also bin, Wien 2010).
