In this lecture (auf Deutsch) Geert Lovink will cover current research into social media such as Facebook and Twitter, cover the wider debate in society over privacy concerns and info overload panic and discuss a variety of alternative platforms that are currently in different stages of development, from Diaspora to Lorea. What is the social in the social media and what type of sociality do we in fact wish for if we complain about the banality of Facebook and its intrusive policies?


Kurzbiografie

Geert Lovink , Gründungsdirektor des Institute of Network Cultures in Amsterdam, ist ein niederländisch-australischer Medientheoretiker und Netzaktivist. Er war Mitglied der Agentur Bilwet und wurde von der University of Melbourne promoviert. Seine letzten Bücher sind Dark Fiber (2004), die Interviewsammlung Uncanny Networks (2002), My First Recession (2003), Zero Comments (2008) and Networks without a Cause (2012, dt.: Das halbwegs Soziale: Eine Kritik der Vernetzungskultur, 2012).
