Constitutional Amendment XIX, 1920

Nachdem bereits 40 Jahre zuvor der erste Vorschlag für einen Verfassungszusatz im Congress eingebracht wurde, der Frauen das Wahlrecht geben sollte, wurde das 19. Amendment am 4. Juni 1919 verabschiedet und am 18. August 1920 ratifiziert.


The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
