| Nachdem der Supreme Court im Verfahren Chisholm v. Georgia geurteilt hatte, dass der Bürger eines Staates einen anderen Staat verklagen könne, wurde auf Bestreben des Staates Georgia dieser Verfassungszusatz am 4. März 1794 eingebracht und am 7. Februar 1795 ratifiziert. |
The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.
