Since 2010 I am working at the zoological research museum Alexander Koenig in Bonn: Christoph Mayer at the ZFMK.
If you are looking for the Phobos program, see the software section further down this page.

Research interests:
· High performance computing, parallel computing (in bioinformatics)
· Phylogenetic systematics
· Information content and quality of data sets in systematics
· Simulating genetic evolution
· Algorithms for the detection of perfect and imperfect tandem repeats
· Analysis of repetitive elements in genomes
· Microsatellite and satellite evolution
· Parallel programming in bioinformatics (using OpenMP and the MPI library)
Software:
Phobos - A microsatellite, minisatellite and satellite search tool by Christoph Mayer
Phobos has been integrated into the following molecular biology analysis tools, which in particular offer a convenient interfaces for designing flanking primers of microsatellites.
Commercial users need to obtain a user license directly from the author of Phobos, Christoph Mayer.
-
STAMP: Microsatellite marker design extension for the Staden package

-
Phobos plugin for Geneious.
Geneious is a commercial and easy to use DNA and protein sequence analysis tool.
In order to use the tandem repeat detection capabilities of Phobos in Geneious one has to install
the command-line version of Phobos (version 3.3.10 or higher) as well as the
Phobos plugin.
Sat-stat - Statistical analysis of Phobos output. Sat-stat computes tandem repeat
characteristics of genomes analysed with Phobos.
(Available upon request.)
PolyMoSim - A program to simulate molecular evolution, such that every branch of a
tree can be assigned a different evolutionary model. PolyMoSim
SAMS - Splits Analysis Methods, Christoph Mayer
SAMS is available here: SAMS at the ZFMK
