Description
The laser laboratory for ultrasonic measurements within the research group Mechanics of Adaptive Systems facilitates contactless vibration measurements in sub-nanometer range. The laboratory is equipped with a highly sensitive laser-based measurement system, which enables high precision scanning of different specimens owing to automated positioning system in the range up to 800 x 1600 x 350mm. This system is employed for the research of reconnaissance possibilities in mechanized tunneling (Collaborative Research Center SFB 837, Subproject A2) and for non-destructive testing of numerous materials with different surface coarseness.
Application fields
- Vibration measurement in ultrasonic range (100kHz - 50MHz)
- Contactless detection of displacements in sub-nanometer range
- Nondestructive Testing (NDT)
- Damage detection, identification of inhomogeneities, obstacles and inclusions
equipment
- Laser system Quartet Bossa Nova Technologies with Fiber-Head for easy positioning
- Optical table Newport for vibration isolation with automatic level regulation
- Arbitary true waveform generator (Agilent)
- Data aquisition system (National Instruments)
- Power amplifer (E&I)
- Ultrasonic transducers 0,1 - 10 MHz
- Positioning system (in-house development, research group Mechanics of Adaptive Systems)
