7. Doctoral Student Conference in Stochastics
In autumn 2011 the seventh Doctoral Student Conference in Stochastics ("Doktorandentreffen Stochastik") will take place at the Ruhr-University Bochum. The conference is organized by and addressed to doctoral students of stochastics from Austrian, German and Swiss universities.
The attendants will have the opportunity to outline their fields of research and results as well as to gain an overview of the area of work of other postgraduate students.
In addition there will be a poster session, in which doctoral students from natural and technical sciences may present their solved or unsolved stochastical problems to initiate a mutual discussion and give some insight in applications of stochastic methods.
Thus a central aspect of the conference will also be to network with other young scientists from stochastics and miscellaneous empirical sciences.
Programme
The participants will have the opportunity to present their areas of work in 20-minute talks. Depending on the number of attendants this activities may be split into two parallel series.
In this years conference for the fist time, there is the possibility for scientists of applied disciplines to introduce their stochastic related results on (maybe still unsolved) mathmatical problems.

Since networking is an essential concern of the conference, besides talks and discussions about stochastics, social activities will be part of the meeting as well.
Amongst others a guided tour through the city centre with a following possibility to spend the evening in Bochum's famous Bermuda3Eck is planned after the talks on Friday.

The conference will start on Thursday, 13th October 2011, in the early afternoon and ends on Saturday, 15th October 2011, at noon (detailed informations can be found here).

Participators have to bear their traveling costs themselves.
We offer free food and accommodation in twin rooms of the IBIS Hotel, Bochum. We will take care of the booking of the rooms for you.
No fee is charged.
Language
Lecturers are supposed - as far as possible - to give their talk in German language. If necessary lectures may be held in English, too.
