Research
Toxins are responsible for many symptoms during infections with bacterial or viral pathogens. The group is particularly interested in effector proteins that target host cells and accumulate in mitochondria.
Current projects
• Interactions of bacterial and viral proteins with mitochondria
• Bacterial toxins and apoptosis
• Molecular mechanisms of intracellular protein traffic
• Pore-forming proteins
• Biogenesis of protein complexes in mitochondria
